The Chronicles of St. Olaf: The Rise of Day-Late the Worshipful
On the 12th day of December in the Year of Light 2024, within the hallowed walls of Lodge St. Olaf, a great and joyous occasion unfolded. Trevor the Worshipful, having led with distinction for two fruitful years, laid down the gavel of governance, and in his stead arose a new leader—the stalwart and seasoned Day-Late the Worshipful, known to the world beyond the Lodge as Gordon Daly.
Though of modest stature, Day-Late the Worshipful stood tall in spirit and wisdom, for this was not his first time upon the Throne of Solomon. His previous reign, spanning the years 2015 to 2017, was marked by steady hands and a steady heart, and now, called upon once more, he took up the mantle with the same steadfast resolve.
The Legacy of Trevor the Worshipful
As the brethren gathered to honour this changing of the guard, it was fitting that homage was paid to Trevor the Worshipful. His time as Master had seen the Lodge flourish, particularly in the recruitment of young and eager men into the Craft. This influx of fresh energy ensured that the Lodge of St. Olaf was not merely a bastion of tradition but a vibrant and growing community. Four candidates now awaited their initiation, and several Fellow Crafts stood poised to ascend to the sublime degree of Master Mason. Trevor’s legacy, like the foundations of the Lodge itself, would endure as a bedrock for future prosperity.
The Dawn of a New Era
Day-Late the Worshipful, having assembled a loyal band of office bearers, began his reign with vigour and purpose. His team, forged through camaraderie and skill, stood ready to carry forth the momentum of their predecessor. The Provincial Grand Master of Aberdeenshire East, Bro. Wemyss, and his Depute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Gordon Thompson, along with a delegation from Grand Lodge, bore witness to the solemn ceremony of installation.
Presiding over this noble rite was the esteemed Bro. Mark Dunn, who, with his cadre of Past Masters, delivered an installation degree of the highest caliber. Their work, imbued with precision and reverence, stood as a testament to the enduring standards of the Lodge.
The Celebration at The Level
Once the labours of the evening had concluded, the brethren and their guests retired to the warmth and camaraderie of the Lodge bar, aptly named The Level. Here, the toasts flowed as freely as the laughter, and the fare was hearty and satisfying. Among the highlights of the evening was the musical performance of Past Master Gordon Mackay, who had composed two songs for the occasion.
The first, a tribute to the outgoing master, celebrated Trevor the Worshipful’s achievements with wit and affection. The second, a rousing anthem dedicated to the newly installed Master, brought the room to life as voices joined in spirited harmony. The melodies resonated not just within the walls of The Level but within the hearts of all who gathered, binding them closer in fellowship.
A Bright Year Ahead
Thus began the reign of Day-Late the Worshipful, amidst cheer and optimism. With a firm foundation laid by his predecessor and a capable team at his side, the path ahead seemed bright indeed. The brethren of Lodge St. Olaf looked forward to a year of growth, labor, and unity, assured that their Lodge would continue to thrive under the guidance of their wise and dedicated Master.
In the annals of the Craft, this night will be remembered as a time of both celebration and renewal, a testament to the enduring spirit of Freemasonry in Cruden Bay.
