How to Become a Member

Any individual who wishes to embark on a journey of self-discovery and improvement can apply for membership. That individual must however meet the following criteria and thereafter follow the process outlined below.

  • Have a ‘Belief in a Supreme being’
  • Be a Male of 18 years old
  • Be a moral, upstanding character and reputable in the community
  1. Express Interest
  2. Meet with Members: Arrange a meeting with current members to learn more about Freemasonry and the Grand Lodge of Scotland. This is an opportunity to ask questions and understand what membership entails.
  3. Submit an Application: Complete and submit a membership application form. This form will ask for basic information about you and your reasons for wanting to join.
  4. Interview and Review: Your application will be reviewed, and you may be invited for an interview with lodge members. This helps ensure that you are a good fit for the organisation, and for you to see if Freemasonry is right for you.
  5. Initiation Ceremony: If your application is approved, you will be invited to participate in an initiation ceremony, where you will officially become a Freemason in the Scottish Constitution.
