Inverie
On the 5th June 2004, 9 of the Lodge members went to the pub! What’s so unusual about I hear you say? Well, this particular pub is the Old Forge and according to the Guinness Book of Records, it is the most remote pub in Britain!
So here’s the script, the 9 walkers and 2 drivers left Cruden Bay at 5:30 am on a Saturday morning and drove for the best part of six hours to Kinloch Hourn, here are the walkers disembarked and set off on their 15-mile trek to the pub!
Arriving at the bunkhouse in Inverie at around 7.30 pm the guys just had enough time to wash and change before heading for the Old Forge for a well-deserved pint and a meal. As if that wasn’t enough for one day the Lodge musicians Gordon Mackay and John Simpson were booked to play to the amazingly receptive audience on both the Saturday and Sunday nights.
