Lodge St. Olaf Representation at the Ullapool Bike Run

A notable moment in the recent history of Lodge St. Olaf No. 1188 was captured at the Ullapool bike run, where Past Master Trevor Cooke, and his faitful companion Carla, (she’s the wee blonde in the red coat), proudly represented the Lodge in his capacity as the newly appointed Area Representative for the Widows Sons Masonic Riders Association – Northern Chapter, was presented with his Northern Chapter Representative badge by Brother Willie McDougall, President of the Widows Sons.

The Ullapool bike run itself is well known as one of the most scenic and enjoyable riding events in the Scottish Highlands, attracting riders from across the country. Set against the dramatic backdrop of mountains, lochs, and coastal roads, the event provides an ideal setting for fellowship, camaraderie, and the shared enjoyment of motorcycling—values closely aligned with those of the Widows Sons organisation.

The Widows Sons Masonic Riders Association is a fraternity of Freemasons who share a passion for motorcycling, bringing together brethren from different lodges under a common interest. The Northern Chapter, which covers a wide geographical area across the north of Scotland, plays an active role in promoting Masonic fellowship, supporting charitable causes, and strengthening ties between lodges and members who ride.

For Lodge St. Olaf, Bro. Cooke’s appointment as Area Representative reflects the Lodge’s ongoing contribution to broader Masonic life beyond the lodge room. It highlights the spirit of service, connection, and camaraderie that continues to define its members, whether in formal meeting or in shared pursuits such as these community riding events.

This occasion at Ullapool stands as a fitting example of Freemasonry in action beyond tradition and ceremony—bringing together friendship, recognition, and shared experience in one of Scotland’s most memorable settings.
