Bro. Gordon Mackay designs new website for PGLAE

A New Digital Chapter for the Provincial Grand Lodge of Aberdeenshire East

In March 2025, the Provincial Grand Lodge of Aberdeenshire East (PGLAE) proudly unveiled a newly redesigned and relaunched website, marking an important step forward in how the Province communicates with brethren and the wider public. The project was undertaken by Bro. Gordon Mackay, Past Master of Lodge St. Olaf No. 1188, whose well-established reputation for website development made him the natural choice to lead the initiative.

The previous PGLAE website had served the Province faithfully for many years but had reached the stage where a comprehensive upgrade was required. As online communication becomes increasingly important for organisations of all kinds, it was recognised that a modern, accessible, and regularly updated platform would greatly benefit both members and visitors seeking information about Freemasonry in Aberdeenshire East.

Bro. Mackay approached the task with a clear objective: to retain the strengths of the existing website while expanding its scope and functionality. Much of the valuable content from the former site was carefully preserved and incorporated into the new platform, ensuring continuity while introducing a more modern design and improved usability.

One of the most significant enhancements was the introduction of dedicated pages for every daughter lodge within the Province. These pages provide an accessible reference point for visitors and brethren alike, offering key information about each lodge and helping to highlight the breadth and vitality of Freemasonry across Aberdeenshire East.

The new website also introduced several practical and informative features designed to keep the Masonic community better connected. Among these is a regularly updated blog centred around the Provincial Grand Master’s Masonic schedule, offering insights into the many visits, events, and engagements that form part of provincial life. Alongside this, an updated calendar provides an easy way for members to stay informed about upcoming meetings, ceremonies, and provincial events.

Additional articles and resources were incorporated to make the site a useful hub of information for both brethren and those with an interest in learning more about the Province. The overall aim was to create a website that would serve not only as an information portal but also as a living record of the activities and spirit of Freemasonry within Aberdeenshire East.

Since the relaunch, Bro. Mackay has continued to manage and maintain the website on behalf of the Provincial Grand Lodge. Through regular updates and ongoing development, he remains committed to ensuring the platform stays fresh, informative, and relevant for all who make use of it.

The 2025 relaunch of the PGLAE website stands as a testament to the value of combining tradition with modern technology. Thanks to the dedication and expertise of Bro. Gordon Mackay, the Province now has a digital presence that reflects both its heritage and its forward-looking approach to communication and engagement.
